“ While those turned away are generally sent home on the next flight, “there are occasional circumstances which require further detention to review their cases,” De Cima said. And because such “arriving aliens” are not considered to be in the United States at all, even if they are in custody, they have none of the legal rights that even illegal immigrants can claim. ”

Darth Vader Feels Blue

Okay, just wrapping up my time here in Canberra. I’m back in Sydney tommorrow.
Wow the digitization was quicker than I anticipated. It means the end is near, and I can come out of exile and head back to Sydney soon.
I suspect that the iminent onset of winter is messing with my bees. I’ve spent the last two days trying to get atleast 1 bee to the test feeder with no success. I feel like a new cafe owner offereing free coffee to customers hoping that they’d come back, and not one of the little twerps does so.
Spent the day reimporting all the videos, clipping them down to manageable length. Amazingly dull stuff. I can’t wait to start digitizing, and I’m sure that will be equally entertaining.
I have been down with flu etc for the last few days so things have come to a standstill. Getting better now :)
So the afternoon session was very weird. I’d trained a couple of bees to the feeder, while I was out having lunch. I came back, and there were a gazillion bees at the test feeder. So I had to hide the test feeder. The bees were quite stubborn though, and they kept coming back to the test setup and searching for the non existent feeder. Still we managed to get some awesome recordings of bees bouncing off webs. I had to time the switch very carefully though, since there were so many bees hovering about. OK that’s it for today, I’m drained.
The whole of this morning was devoted to filming the bees with high speed cameras. Trained two bees, managed to film 1 interception. It’s amazing watching the bees hit the web at ‘slow motion’. We’re going to try another one this afternoon, but for now, I’m starving.
